CLASS INFO:
Classes in all levels are offered in our fully equipped studio.
- wheel throwing
- hand building
- decorating
- sculpture
- glazing
- tile/mosaic
Learn to create pieces using either handbuilding, throwing or a combination of both that can be used for either functional or sculptural work.
- The classes are kept small to allow for individualized attention and study within the group setting.
- Surface decoration techniques demonstrated will include applied texture, colored slips and glaze application.
- You are encouraged to let your instructor know of any project you may have in mind and it will be used to feed the class demonstrations.

WHAT’S INCLUDED
3 Hour classes for 8 weeks + 4 hours bench time/week
Glazes, brown and /or white house clay, and firing at 4 cents/firing. Speciality clay bodies are available for sale here.
MISSED CLASS MAKE-UP POLICY Missed class can be made up during the session as long as you have flagged your absence at least 12 hours ahead and there is room in another class.
WHAT TO BRING
Participants should bring their own individual tool kit, apron and towel to each class. Supplies can be bought here.
CLASSES:

Beginner Wheel Class
is appropriate for any one with no, or little experience. The class will teach how to center, throw and trim bowls, cylinders and simple shape vases. Students will also learn surface decorations such as sgraffito, inlay, wax resist and glazing.

All Level Hand-Building Class
is appropriate for beginners and experienced students. Students will learn handbuilding techniques such as pinching, coiling, extruding and rolling slabs, giving students the tools to create functional work, tableware collections and sculptures. Experienced students will receive guidance in building larger and more complex pieces with a focus on surface decorations.

All Level Wheel and/or Hand Building Class
is appropriate for total beginners as well as experienced students.

Beginner & Intermediate Wheel and/or Hand building class
is appropriate for people with no experience as well as students who have taken the equivalent of one or two sessions before.

Exploratory Clay Play, Intermediate Level Wheel and/or Handbuilding
is appropriate for students who can throw a cylinder. This class is designed to open creativity and push participants to try new things. Through a variety of games/activities that stimulate collaboration, a little friendly competition, and new ways of approaching projects, this class will energize your journey with clay and expand ways of thinking.

Intermediate & Advanced Wheel and/or Handbuilding Class
is appropriate for people who have already taken the equivalent of at least two sessions. Intermediate & Advanced students should be able to center 5-8 lbs of clay on the wheel and have basic coil and slab building knowledge.

Cancellation Policy: $125 is non-refundable. Balance will be refunded for cancellation made in writing, no later than 7 days prior to the start of the 7 or 8 week session. No refund available thereafter. In the event CDC guidelines change before or during the course of the session and/or a studio shut down occurs, Choplet studio will transition to online instruction. Due to the impact of Covid-19 on small businesses, we will be unable to provide refunds or credits, even though online classes may not provide the same instruction than in person instruction. Please make sure you only register if you are comfortable with this policy. Tools: Pottery tool kit is required and can be purchased for $15 at registration or on your first class. Firing Fee: 4 cents/cubic inch per firing.
